Charles Eakin

Biography
Charles Eakin is well-known for his musical-theatre compositions. He has, however, composed in many media, including chamber music, electronic music, voice, large and small ensembles, and a series of works for solo instruments and for orchestra. His music is performed nationally and internationally including recitals in West Germany, England, and Mexico. He was a bass player in the Houston and New Orleans Orchestras. He moved to Colorado in 1964.

Eakin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 1950, a Master of Arts in musicology from Carnegie Mellon University in 1955, and the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Minnesota in 1964. He has served on the faculties at the College of Music at the University of Colorado at Boulder, the University of Minnesota and Baylor University.
