Composer
Biography
Leonard was born in Brooklyn New York to Simon and Betty (Schwalb) Moses. After graduating from South Philadelphia High School for Boys in 1949, he attended the University of Rochester to pursue his Bachelor of Music degree at the Eastman School of Music. He later attended Catholic University for his Masters Degree in Music. In 1954, he married Alice Irma Prather. During this time, he served in the United States Navy and played with the Navy Band. Leonard and Alice raised a daughter Robin and a son Peter.
Leonard's entire life was music. After learning the French Horn he then began piano. Which remained his primary instrument throughout his career in music. He later became a Composer In Residence, writing music manually and later on his computer. Leonard loved being around people and making many friends throughout his life. He loved reading books and traveling with his wife. He especially loved walking in Annapolis and seeing the water. Everyone he knew, both privately and professionally loved being with him and around him. His laughter smile and kindness being so very infectious. He always had nothing but the kindest things to say about everyone. He loved life, his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his many friends and students. He brought music into everyone's life.
