Biography Recently deemed "one of the decade's more gifted, up-and-coming modern classical composers (Pitchfork), Sarah Kirkland Snider writes "rapturous" (New York Times) music of direct expression and vivid narrative. Her music has been commissioned and performed internationally by the San Francisco, Detroit, North Carolina, and Indianapolis Symphonies; ; BAM Next Wave Festival; Young People's Chorus of New York and Brooklyn Youth Chorus; Cantus, Roomful of Teeth, and Volti; yMusic, Ensemble Signal, and The Knights; soloists Anne Akiko Meyers, Colin Currie, and Shara Worden; and many others. Her two orchestral song cycle records, PENELOPE (2010) and UNREMEMBERED (2015), graced dozens of Top Ten lists including NPR, Washington Post, The Nation, Boston Globe's Steve Smith, and The Guardian's Seth Colter Walls. Upcoming projects include a Mass for Trinity Wall Street and NOVUS New York. Sarah graduated from has a B.A. from Wesleyan University (B.A.) and Yale School of Music (M.M. and A.D.).
