Peter Michael von der Nahmer, born April 7, 1977 in Munich, Germany, received his bachelor’s degree in classical composition and film music from the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Germany and the “Certificate in Film scoring” from UCLA in Los Angeles. Von der Nahmer started composing at the age of 13 and as of today, has created over 100 works, which have been played internationally in countries such as the United States, Germany, Japan, and Great Britain.
Von der Nahmer’s works encompass multiple genres and fields of music, such as opera, musical theatre, motion pictures, ballet, performance, chamber music, and orchestral music. He has been honored with various scholarships (14th O’Neill Puppetry Conference, CT) and awards (Susan and Ford Schuman Award and Maestro’s Circle scholarship at Aspen Music School, CO) and positions as a composer in residence (Emrick Production Group; Matthias Grünewald High School, Germany; and Age of Harp).
He recently received the “Masterworks Prize” for his piano quartet “The Monk and the Fish” which is recorded for the awarded CD series “Masterworks of the New Era”.
He was also a finalist in the “FAO’s 2006 International Composition Competition” with his orchestra work “Persiflamia”.
He has worked for institutions like GRAMMY as a counselor for composition, arrangement and film scoring and Kenwood for which he composed their radio spot, which was running on over 120 radio stations nation wide for one year.
