Twice performing his own piano music in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Mr. Rose has received prizes at international music competitions both as a pianist and as a composer. He has appeared on radio and TV commenting and playing his own music and has recorded his works on various labels.

John and his wife Sing, also known as the Rose Duo, completed a concert tour in China in March of 2016. In November of 2015, John performed his piano concerto with the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc, Czech, followed by a collaboration with the same orchestra and the talents of cellist JungWon Choi, violinist Simeon Simeonov, and soprano Sing Rose on a major recording project of his four concerti (cello, piano, violin and voice). This May, he will perform Beethoven's Choral Fantasy in Wheeling West Virginia with the West Liberty University Singers.

In Spring 2014, guitarist Diego Campagna selected John's solo guitar piece "The Children Are Playing" for inclusion on his new guitar cd, featuring the piece as well on his American tour. The music is published by M.A.P. Editions in Italy. In April 2014, the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra (Russia) included one of his arias from "Rumplestiltskin" on their Opera Gala concert. In the 2012/2013 season, Mr. Rose completed the first production of his "Rumpelstiltskin," a family opera after the fairytale. Premiering in October 2012 in a total of four performances at The National Opera Center in New York City, “Rumplestiltskin” was conducted by Miran Vaupotich and directed by Tyler Bunch. With the libretto by Michele Coppola Ames, the title role of Arden was performed by Sing Rose. These most successful performances led to invitations in the seasons of 2013 and 2014 for new productions of “Rumpelstiltskin” at opera houses in Russia and Eastern Europe (Bulgaria).

In September 2012 John Alan Rose appeared as a radio guest with Kate Remington at WSHU 91.1 FM, where his "Joy Suite for violin and piano" was broadcast live. At the same time, he and his wife, soprano Sing Rose, performed televised concerts in Lewisboro, New York, featuring music of Mozart, Liszt, and Debussy, as well as Mr. Rose’s own compositions. His "Sleepy Hollow Suite" for violin/viola duo was published by Ut Orpheus Edizioni in July 2012.

Earlier, in May 2012, Mr. Rose collaborated with the Dubrovnik Philharmonic Orchestra in a program devoted entirely to his own compositions including his violin and piano concerti, where Mr. Rose also appeared as soloist playing his own piano concerto. The Dubrovnik News commented: “The appearance of John Rose presented a high quality, refined musical taste and aesthetics, concern for detail and mastery of the piano.”

Also in Spring 2012 the Connecticut Dance School performed to Mr. Rose’s original music at the Westport Country Playhouse with new choreography by Alan Woodard. In February 2012 Mr. Rose and his wife celebrated Franz Liszt’s 200th birthday performing a program of Lieder and piano music by Franz Liszt in New York’s Hungarian Consulate.

Additionally, his piano trio, “Trio di Buson”, signed a contract with GUILD of Switzerland in 2012 for a new CD production featuring Rose’s “Buson’s Ballet” as well as music of Mendelssohn and d'Indy.

Mr. Rose performed the world premiere of his new Piano Concerto in April 2011 with the Lugansk Philharmonic (Ukraine) under the baton of Maestro Miran Vaupotich. Earlier in the season of 2011, he was awarded the prize of "Distinguished Composer" in the Ibla International Competition for Composers for his composition "Sleepy Hollow Suite."

Mr. Rose was invited in the summer of 2009 to ERM Media studios in Virginia to record his chamber music. He won his recording contract with ERM Media in 2008 for their "Made in the Americas" project under the Naxos label. Earlier, John performed his own complete piano preludes by invitation at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. No stranger to other genres of music, John has also appeared onstage with R&B artist Aretha Franklin.

A native of St. Clairsville, Ohio, John has been performing as pianist and composer since the age of fourteen. At the age of eighteen he played the complete Chopin Etudes in concerts throughout Ohio and West Virginia. His studies took him to Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory and Cleveland, where he worked with Dr. Robert Mayerovitch and Professor Dina Khudaiberdieva, then later to Indiana University where he was a student of Dr. Karen Shaw. Subsequently he studied under pianist Frederic Chiu and conductor / composer Robert Ian Winstin.

John resides with his family in Ohio and is a member of ASCAP.
