Biography
Rising Chicago artist ‘KECHI (born Ikechi Chijiuba Ihemeson) is a multi-hyphenate: vocalist, lyricist, songwriter, composer, keyboardist, poet. Raised by Nigerian parents in the southwest suburbs, diverse sounds and experiences molded him and his artistry. R&B/soul, gospel, hip hop, jazz, classical — all these genres, and more, are blended into his lyrical soul, describes as “sophisticatedly simple.”
'Kechi's debut music project, Late Night Love Confessions, released on February 14, 2019, comprising of original songs and poetry performed in an intimate setting, revealing the core of his lyrical soul.
In July 2019, 'Kechi joined the Chicago-based artist collective StoryBook Collective, including fellow artists F.A.B.L.E and C.A.M.
His long-awaited music project The Light released January 25, 2020, a StoryBook debut. With more fully developed sounds, lyrics, and concept, 'Kechi crafted his work around the idea of the light symbolically shining through in one's circumstances. The title track includes thoroughly written verses and performances from 'Kechi and F.A.B.L.E, who also mixed and mastered the entire EP.
