Arturo Colautti
Librettist
Biography
Italian writer Arturo Colautti (1851–1914) worked with a number of Italian composers, most famously with Giordano on Fedora and with Cilea on Adriana Lecouvreur.

Colautti was born in Zara (now Zadar in present-day Croatia). He worked as a journalist in Zara and after his move to Italy in 1881, where he went on to direct newspapers in Padua, Naples and Milan. Throughout his life he was a vocal supporter of Italian irredentism, a movement that sought to bring Dalmatia and other regions under Italian rule.

In addition to his work as a journalist, Colautti's other writings included the novel Fidelia, the poetry collections Canti virili and Il terzo peccato (with some poems set as songs by Tosti) and the libretto Paolo e Francesca for Luigi Mancinelli.
