Marie Pappenheim
Librettist

Biography
Marie Pappenheim (1882- 1966) was an Austrian Jewish socialist, writer, librettist and doctor. Pappenheim is known for writing the libretto for Schoenberg's "Erwartung." There is still a controversy on whether or not Pappenheim actually wrote the text, or if was just her idea, and the text was actually written by Schoenberg. Arguments have been made on both sides, some citing the censorship of women at that particular time in history.
