Biography Robert Patrick is an American playwright and a pioneer in Off-Off Broadway and gay theatre. He has published over 60 plays. His first, The Haunted Host premiered at Caffe Cino in 1964 and has been the first production of gay theatres from Toronto to Sydney. His other plays include Pouf Positive, One Man, One Woman, Play-By-Play, The Golden Circle, My Cup Ranneth Over, T-Shirts, Mutual Benefit Life, Mercy Drop, Blue Is For Boys, Bread Alone, The Last Stroke, The Trial of Socrates, Judas, and Kennedy's Children (PH). His plays have been produced at several theatres including Playwrights Horizons, The Denver Center Theatre Company, and LaMama ETC. His play, The Trial of Socrates, was the first gay play produced by the City of New York.
Patrick has recieved several honors for his writing including Rockefeller and NYSCAP grants, the "Pick of the Fringe" Award at the Edinburgh Festival (for The Last Stroke), and the Robert Chesley Award for Lifetime Achievement In Gay Theatre.
