Biography A native of rural Colorado, Leanna Kirchoff composes operas, choral pieces, chamber music, and audiovisual works. Honors for her music include an Opera America Discovery Grant (2018), the National Opera Association opera composition first prize (2014), the Sorel Medallion for choral composition (2007), and an American Composers Forum Faith Partners Residency (2000). Her chamber operas have been performed at the International Congress of Voice Teachers (Sweden), Kyonggi University (South Korea), Zhejiang Normal University (China), the National Opera Association convention, the Minnesota Fringe Festival, Gateway Opera (MO), and at several universities in the United States. Audiovisual collaborations with Chris Malloy have been showcased in conferences in Argentina, South Korea, Canada, and locally, in Colorado. Kirchoff holds a doctorate degree in composition from the University of Colorado and teaches at the University of Denver.
