Biography
Anton Piatigorsky is a playwright, librettist and fiction writer, who teaches the upper-level inquiry course ARTSSCI 4CD3 / Research and Creative Writing, offered for the first time in 2013-14. His fiction includes Al-Tounsi, a novel about Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court, and The Iron Bridge, a collection of short stories about twentieth-century dictators as teenagers. His plays, which include Eternal Hydra, The Kabbalistic Psychoanalysis of Adam R. Tzaddik, Breath In Between, and a new adaptation of S. Ansky's The Dybbuk, have won numerous awards, including two Dora Mavor Moore awards for best new play, and the 2005 Elinore and Lou Siminovitch Protégé Award for playwriting. His libretto for Airline Icarus, a chamber opera by composer Brian Current, won the Primo Fedora Award and a 2015 Juno award, and has been performed internationally. He often utilizes a wide variety of research materials and techniques in his work.

Anton earned a BA in Religious Studies from Brown University. He has received commissions and productions from The Stratford Festival, Soulpepper Theatre, Crow's Theatre and Factory Theatre, amongst others.
