Biography Richard Chiarappa, (composer, conductor, educator), has taught for 42 years at the Kingswood Oxford School in West Hartford, CT. Richard's compositions include music for schools, string orchestra, concert band, jazz band, and orchestra with chorus, soloists or narrator. Two of his orchestral works - The Gettysburg Address for Orchestra and Narrator, and Romp for Symphony Orchestra and 'Celebrity' Triangulist'- are published by Robert Wendel Music (wendelmusic.com) of New York City, and have been been performed by the Miami, Rockford, Pacific, Manassas, Abington, Cape Cod, Richmond, Southern Illinois, Gulf Coast and Arlington Symphony Orchestras. Arrangements of those works for schools and community orchestras can be found on the JWP site, as well as his many works for school string orchestras, and his most recent "A Broadway Style Birthday" for Orchestra or Concert Band. "The Miraculous Staircase" (an opera in one act), and his historical musical "Lincoln and Booth," can be rented through Clear Mud Publications; the link is below. Chiarappa is a member of ASCAP, NAfME, CMEA, the Dramatists Guild, the League of American Orchestras, and the Conductors Guild. He and his wife reside in West Hartford, CT where Richard is the founding music director of the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra. They have two grown daughters, two sons-in-law, and five grandchildren.
