William North Jayme
Librettist

Biography
William North Jayme was the writer of dozens of advertisement-oriented mailings that found their way into American homes between 1958 and the mid-1990s. A deft writer, he had a talent for writing provoking and humorous advertisements, especially for increasing the number of subscribers to such publications as Mother Jones and Food & Wine. His methodology, which included the graphics design of partner Heikki Ratalahti, was quite successful, and the pair maintained their own creative marketing firm.

Jayme authored a number of diverse works during his life; some of these books include Know Your Toes and Other Things to Know, which he wrote with Roderick Cook, an opera libretto he penned with Douglas Moore that was later recorded titled Carry Nation. He also wrote a number of radio and television programs, such as the made-for-television show Background for Judgment. Jayme contributed to such magazines as Harper's and Esquire.

William North Jayme has been listed as a notable writer by Marquis Who's Who. He was a widely known author of three popular books The Other Half of the Egg, Carry Nation and Know Your Toes and Other Things to Know.
