Biography
Brooke deRosa is an award-winning film, television, and theater composer, opera singer, and conductor. Based in Los Angeles, Brooke holds a double major in music and theatre from W&L University where she was a recipient of the John Graham Award in Fine Arts. She has composed music for over twenty films. The score for “The Search for Simon”, directed by BAFTA winner Martin Gooch, which she co-composed was nominated for Best Score at the Monaco International Film Festival and won Best Score at the Portsmouth International Film Festival. Her following collaboration with Mr. Gooch, "The Gatehouse," premiered at Raindance London and was nominated for Best Score at the Southampton International Film Festival.

?Originally from New York, Brooke is an internationally accomplished opera and musical theatre performer. She has performed locally with LA Opera, Long Beach Opera, Center Stage Opera, Pacific Opera Project, The Pacific Symphony, Redlands Symphony and the San Bernardino Symphony Orchestra. She recently originated the role of "Nicely" in a new musical entitled "Witch's Night Out" which was workshopped for Stephen Schwartz as part of the ASCAP/Dreamworks Musical Theater Workshop at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.

Brooke has been a featured vocal soloist on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, on the Jimmy Kimmel stage, albums with Ghostface Killah, Snoop Dogg, Souls of Mischief, Yuna and has been featured on the scores to: "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," "Luke Cage" and "A Series of Unfortunate Events". Brooke later went on to also conduct the orchestra for "Luke Cage" (season two).

In 2017 Brooke completed her first opera, based on the short story "The Monkey's Paw" which premiered in Los Angeles with Pacific Opera Project.

?She was commissioned to write an orchestral reduction for Rossini's La gazzetta which included re-creating and re-composing the famous "Lost Quintet". Brooke conducted her own orchestral reduction for Pacific Opera Project in June and July of 2018. Immediately following, she conducted the orchestra for Snoop Dogg's forthcoming album.

Her next operetta, "Gunfight at the Not-So-OK Saloon" premiered in 2019 as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. The show was wildly popular and sold out it's entire run, leading it to garner the awards, "Pick of the Fringe", and the "Encore Producer's Award". "Gunfight" also went on to be featured at Rockwell Table and Stage with the Foundation for New Musicals. Later, Brooke was awarded the "John Raitt Award for Best Music and Lyrics" as part of the Robbie Awards, beating out "Anastasia", "Salvage" and "Indecent".

Her opera opera "Alice in Wonderland" is currently in development with Creative OPERAtions, and is looking forward to performances in both Los Angeles and New York.

She participated in the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive in January 2020, conducting everything from Elgar's "Enigma Variation" to John Williams' "Star Wars Main Theme." The program culminated with her conducting her own work, "Public Enemy" with a 67-piece orchestra at Eastwood Scoring Stage at Warner Bros.

Also in 2020, Brooke was commissioned by Los Angeles Opera to write "Songs of Orpheus"; art songs based on poetry of local Los Angeles veterans and worked in conjunction with two groups, "Mindful Warrior" and "Returning Soldiers Speak". "Songs of Orpheus" premiered in February 2020 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
