Marianna Mott Newirth
Librettist
Biography
Marianna Mott Newirth, a librettist/playwright and creative producer, hails from an eclectic background of theatre and bookbinding. She’s written numerous short operatic works. The opera 'touch', with composer/librettist Carla Lucero, sites Newirth’s first full-length commission as co-librettist. She served as dramaturge for 'Princess Maleine' (George/Goodwin) commissioned by dell’Arte Opera Ensemble in 2019 while a handful of her theatrical plays were being produced in venues across New York City.

Newirth has curated white papers for Music & Medicine online journal and HowlRound Theatre Commons; is currently President of the New York Opera Alliance and member of the Creative and Independent Producer’s Alliance. She served as Executive Director for dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, producing opera al fresco through the pandemic, studied producing with Beth Morrison Projects Producer’s Academy, learned puppetry with Sandglass Theater and held a librettist fellowship with Really Spicy Opera in 2022. Today, Newirth is co-Founder & Executive Producer of Opera Praktikos, NYC’s first disability-affirmative opera company.
