Synopsis
A middle-aged woman is sorting relics in a crowded attic and recalling mainly sad associations from her past. When a young man answers her advertisement to read to her in French, he discloses his unhappy past. Then they begin to taunt each other, and he finally departs, with the woman left to bemoan her pain. She expires, and the butler announces her passing.
