Synopsis
In this mixture of Plato's Symposium and the Last Supper of the New Testament, five friends, an opera singer/drag queen, a prospective nun, a classics professor, an abortion doctor, and a Chinese activist, spend an evening together. At the urging of their hostess, they discuss diverse aspects of love. Each of the next five scenes features one of the characters acting out his or her fantasies. The opera ends where it began, at the dinner table, with the characters having been transformed by their visions.
