Synopsis
Hester Prynne has returned to the community that ostracized her for having a child out of wedlock after she makes sure that her daughter will be raised in safety. In the last hour of her life, she muses on her treatment by the wrathful community, her husband Roger Chillingworth, and the silence of her lover, Arthur Dimmesdale, whom she still loves.
