The Golden Ticket
Composer:Peter Ash
Librettist:Donald Sturrock
Synopsis
Based on Roald Dahl's best-selling modern fairy tale "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," The Golden Ticket is an ambitious new opera by American composer Peter Ash. Originally conceived as a work for the Royal National Theatre in London, the project was been taken over by New York City's American Lyric Theater in 2006 who commissioned the operas completion with Felicity Dahl. Hailed by Sir Simon Rattle as "the perfect family opera", ALT has held two developmental workshops of the opera in New York City and is now partnering with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, who will present the World Premiere in June 2010. The World Premiere Production will then travel to the Wexford Festival in Ireland in the fall of 2010. Additional performances in the United States and abroad to be announced. Score and recorded samples are available from American Lyric Theater upon request.
