Blood on the Dining-Room Floor
Composer:Jonathan Sheffer
Librettist:Jonathan Sheffer
Synopsis
In the summer of 1933, in the house she shared with Alice B. Toklas in Bilignin, France, Gertrude Stein wrote a "murder mystery" about the strange events of that summer. In nine scenes, plus a prologue and epilogue, this musical theater work depicts the tales of three crimes, separated by several deaths of the culinary variety, plus meditations on writing and the strange uneasiness of an unconventional life in the country. It traces Stein's reemergence as a writer with newfound fame and confidence.
