Goodbye to the Clown
Composer:Ezra Laderman
Librettist:Ernest Kinoy
Synopsis
Nine-year old Peggy has an imaginary playmate, “Clown,” who is very real to her. She blames the Clown for her behavior, which is causing problems at school and with her Mother. The truth about the Clown (visible to the audience) is slowly revealed as Peggy realizes that her Father is dead. The Clown, who has been a father-substitute in her mind, is no longer needed, and says good-bye.
