Synopsis
Based on the memoirs of Bernal Diaz del Castillo, a soldier who accompanied Cortez to Mexico, the opera tells of the landing of the Spaniards in Mexico and their dealings with the Aztecs and the emperor, Montezuma. A classic tale from history of trust and betrayal, it ends with the death of Montezuma at the hands of the Aztecs.
