Synopsis
The pipe of desire is a magic pipe owned by the Old One, leader of the elves. Young Iolan uses it wrongly and causes the death of his lover Naoia and himself.

The Pipe of Desire was the first opera by an American composer presented by the Metropolitan Opera (March 18, 1910). It received three performances in one season.
