Jack Pine
Composer:Veda Hille
Librettist:Veda Hille
Synopsis
Jack Pine tells the story of a scrawny pine tree who doesn’t quite live up to Red Cedar or Yellow Spruce. What use is he? Only when the farmer finally gives in and sets Jack Pine on fire is his true value recognized. Told through the adventures of three children who, while learning about this tenacious tree discover truths about themselves. A new opera for children by Vancouver composer Veda Hille based on the long poem of the same name by Canadian Christopher Patton. Jack Pine is an exquisite tale about growing up told in a refreshingly original way that elementary school children will find engaging while learning about botany.
