Mom Sings an Aria
Composer:Alan Stringer
Librettist:Alan StringerJames Yaffe
Synopsis
A homocide detective and his wife come for Friday dinner at his Jewish mom's home. Mom had musical ambitions for her son, but these didn't work out. His latest case, about a murder that took place in the standing room section of the MET, is discussed (and acted out in flashbacks) during the meal. Mom's stories and her opera singing, and the standee's fights about opera divas, divert us while she solves the case for her son.
