Synopsis
The American Civil War portrayed as a minstrel show with four dramatic sequences. "Picnic at manassas" focuses on the Battle of Bull Run, "The Ballad of Belle Boyd" concerns an actress's experiences while touring, "Mr. Brady Takes a Photograph" is about a Civil War photographer and "Atlanta to the Sea" deals with General Sherman's army in Savannah. The sequences are interspersed with popular songs, jokes of the period and soft shoe dances.
