Sade
Composer:E. Scott Wilkinson
Librettist:James Skofield
Synopsis
Set against the dramatic turn-of-the-19th-century France, the opera presents a unique portrait of one of post-revolutionary France's most infamous monsters. It is not a precise rendering of the life of the Marquis de Sade, but rather a multifaceted portrait of an individual who, above all, excelled in his ability to "shape-shift" from one form to another during the course of a long and dangerous life.
