Synopsis
Widow Bernarda Alba imposes an eight year mourning observance on her five adult (single) daughters. Servant and Housekeeper warn Bernarda to show compassion and relax the tyrannic control over her daughters. Tragedy unfolds as the oldest daughter (heiress) is betrothed to the youngest daughter's beau. Jealousy and intrigue lead to suicide, as predicted by the senile grandmother.
