Lysistrata
Composer:Mark Adamo
Librettist:Mark Adamo
Synopsis
A revision of Aristophanes's satire as a comically tough-minded look at the forces of attraction and the attractions of force. Impatient with her lover's absorption in a pointless war, Lysistrata persuades the women of both sides to withhold sex until their men make peace. Outraged, Orestes joins with the enemy, swearing to continue the war until the women regain their senses. Farce yields to soul-searching as the lovers struggle to win their battles without losing the war—or each other.
