Synopsis
A drama in which words and music are integrated, "i.e." , the story dictates the resultant harmonic/melodic lines. The work contains a romantic story combined with pageantry and entertainment; it includes drinking songs, work songs, descriptive Native American musical creations, dances, an Andalusian folk song, a seguidilla, and a farandole; duets and solos. The music is continuous from the beginning to the end of each act.
