The Cat Lover
Composer:Roberto Pace
Librettist:Ann T. Greene
Synopsis
The Cat Lover, the second part of a three-part opera entitled SCENES FROM AMERICAN LIFE, tells the story of Leonia, living in a large metropolis, and of her string of unfulfilling and tragic relationships. When she discovers her allergy to her beloved Persian pet, Leonia is doomed to human relationships. She resorts to an unhappy marriage to James, who pressures her to become "Jane" and, as a result, she dies. Rising from the coffin, she has a short tryst with her analyst's brother (a pornographic film star) and finds sympathy from an odd beautician before finding herself alone.
