Synopsis
Beatrice, a deeply religious novice in a 13th century Belgian convent, falls in love with a prince and leaves the convent to be with him. The Virgin Mary takes her place while the convent's statue of Mary disappears. The new Beatricee is proclaimed a saint when she performs a miracle. The real Beatrice returns many years later to die at the foot of the statue of Mary which reappears.
