Synopsis
Strange Fruit revolves around an interracial love affair between a young black woman, Nonnie Anderson, and a gentle, though disaffected white man, Tracy Deen in a segregated Georgia town in the early 1920s. Nonnie's older brother Ed returns to persuade his sister to return north with him. Tracy's mother enlists the traveling minister to cajole her son to join the church and marry his high school sweetheart. Discovering that Nonnie is pregnant and that Tracy plans to abandon her, Ed murders him and escapes north. His crime leads to the lynching of Big Henry, Tracy's house boy and childhood companion.
