Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Claire has a boyfriend her age, Tommy, but she also knows a mysterious older man, Simon Rivers, who she feels somehow holds the key to releasing her emotionally-crippled mother, Mae. It is revealed that years earlier Mae's husband shot and killed her lover and then turned the gun on himself. The opera tells the story of how Claire re-enacts her mother's life in order to change its ending and break their family's cycle of pain and sorrow.
