Synopsis
Joan of Arc is on trial at Rouen in 1431. Friar Julien saves Joan from a drunken jailer and is urged by Bishop Cauchon to persuade her to wear women's clothes. She is tried, recants in a moment of weakness, changes her mind and is condemned to be burned at the stake.
