Synopsis
Aliceheimer's is a single-singer, full-length chamber opera about Alice
and her journey with dementia. As she sings of her life to the audience,
they are caught up in her perpetual present tense, whether that present
is now, when Alice is five years old or some other time in her life.
The opera changes the usual narrative of dementia as being solely about
loss to one of love, humor, compassion and redemption. The opera also
includes a silent actor/dancer who takes on several roles, including
Alice's daughter and a care worker in a facility.
