Robert Moses Astride New York
Composer:Gary Fagin
Librettist:Gary Fagin
Synopsis
More than any other 20th-century figure, Robert Moses was responsible for forging a new landscape for New York. In his 40+ years at the epicenter of New York State and New York City politics, Moses became embroiled in epic battles with many other powerful figures, including Al Smith, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Nelson Rockefeller, Joseph Papp and Jane Jacobs. He was first revered (“The Master Builder”), and later pilloried (“The Power Broker”). Gary S. Fagin's "Robert Moses Astride New York" brings Moses’ life, achievements and conflicts to the stage in the form of a 15-minute dramatic musical work for tenor and orchestra.
