Elektra
Composer:Nicholas Chase
Librettist:Nicholas Chase
Synopsis
Elektra pines the murder/assassination of her father, Agamemnon. Recalling her troubled relationship with her mother Clytemnestra—who commissioned Agamemnon's murder—Elektra weaves her way through the media attention given public figures, her personal loss, and the resulting injustice of Clytemnestra's judicial immunity. Elektra faces depression, trauma, and the stigmatization of mental illness, commented on by a chorus of media images and voices.
