MISSION STATEMENT

Alamo City Opera's Mission is to create a dynamic operatic experience, and to inspire our audiences, artists, and community.  Our Artistic Mission is to pursue excellence in the presentation of diverse repertoire, through innovative original productions and detailed performance practice, and to provide opportunity to artists throughout the US at all stages of their careers, from student to mentor.

Our Community Mission is to engage diverse audiences from San Antonio and beyond in the communicative power of opera at performances and imaginative community events, and to encourage the use of opera as a resource for educators to enrich the learning of young people.

Intimate opera provides the patron with a very intense and entertaining experience.  We contract professional opera singers from around the world and the highest caliber of local musicians for season productions.

Alamo City Opera is in its 6th season of professional intimate opera.  The arts group is tearing down negative stereotypes associated with opera by producing the art in English, in traditional and non-traditional settings and venues, providing the patron with an up close theatrical experience, and priced so that everyone can afford to come.  It is succeeding in building today’s new opera audience with an average patron age of 35 years.  Since 2012, the company has produced 24 operas, many of which have never been performed in San Antonio.
