MISSION STATEMENT
Heartland Opera Theater exists in order to promote, foster, develop, encourage, and broaden the artistic and cultural scope of the Midwestern Region of the United States by providing opera and musical theater in the broadest sense: The arts of drama, voice, symphony, dance, and design are produced to the highest standards. Through fully-staged productions and smaller outreach performances we provide opportunities for patrons to experience art forms to which they may not otherwise have access.
We have been in existence since 1998, and for most seasons have provided at least two productions. Paid performers include both local artists as well as those from other areas of the country. Live music by paid musicians is always a feature of our productions, and ranges from a single pianist to performances with full orchestra. We have staged performances in many different local venues, including those in other towns and nearby states.
Heartland Opera Theatre has been the recipient of numerous local and state grants and enjoys a stable donor base, as well. By utilizing social media and making the donation experience easier we are starting to attract many younger supporters. We are fortunate that Joplin has a vibrant and supportive arts community that one might not expect in a city of this size. As we move into our twentieth season we look forward to even more success and growth.
