The opera concerns survival and fear. Above a cliff over-looking the Pacific, eight young renegades, led by Savannah, per beau, Lucien, and Bill, her former lover, build their utopia. But by the time their glass house is complete, one of them is dead, the others are half-crazed, and their fragile democracy is in ruins. The roles are meant for jazz singers rather than operatically trained voices.
