Kill Bear, a young Iroquois, is crushed to death by a bear he is hunting. He and the bear are revived by the magic of the Song Bird, a wood thrush, and Hasty Girl, the young sister-in-law of Kill Bear. But her carelessness leads to having the heads attached to the wrong bodies. Meanwhile, Kill Bear's widow, Cold Feet, is pressured to wed the village chieftain, Chief Wife Hunter, whose previous wives have all died.
