Based on Thomas Mann's novella Tristan, VHO embedded a scene from Tristan & Isolde in the middle of a newly-commissioned play by Jennifer Hoyt Tidwell. Drugsong (2017) is set at a Health Spa in the near future where the residents “take temporary leave from a dying world”. This play incorporates a 30-minute excerpt of Wagner's famous opera Tristant und Isolde and features 5 physical theater actors, two opera singers, and a quintet.
